Candid Critiques: L’oreal Crayon Concealer

I have been on the search of a lifetime looking for a good concealer! I’m not even kidding, I haven’t had an adequate concealer ever! After trying a many (two from BareMinerals, one from MAC, one from Revlon, and one from L’oreal), I have finally found “THE ONE!” It’s the L’oreal True Match Super-Blendable Crayon Concealer!

Here’s a little demo:

Starting with just foundation and mascara on:thedaintydaisies

Now using the side of the concealer to cover some discoloration and blackheads:

Let’s talk concealer:

Marketed: It’s marketed to provide a “superbleandable texture” without being “flakey.” “The tip of the crayon allows for precise application, while the side of the crayon can easily canvas a larger area of skin.”

Color: This concealer comes in 6 shades, which isn’t very many. I’m using the second lightest, fair/light W-1-2-3. It’s looks super orange compared to my fair skin, but it actually blends well to match.

Feel: I’m forever changed on what a concealer can be after finding this little beauty. A concealer can be creamy; I know it was a shocker to me too! This product is a crayon so it feels nothing like a liquid concealer. I can’t think of another way to describe it, than to say it’s creamy. Because of its thicker consistency, it’s pretty moisturizing and is never flakey so it can be applied on drier areas.

Coverage: Being a concealer, its entire existence is to provide coverage. It has no other purpose on this planet. That being said, it succeeds in its life purpose. I prefer to use this concealer on blemishes and to even out any redness I have. It’s not my favorite for covering any dark circles under my eyes because it can come across cakey in that area. So instead, I like the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer ($7)(Drugstores).

Lasting Power: I would say this concealer has an average lasting power. It doesn’t seem to come off extremely easy, but it isn’t going to be on for 48 hours. However, if I do need to touch up, it’s super simple because of its packaging.

Price: This product goes for about $9 at drugstores.

Packaging: I’m a big fan of the packaging. It’s a twist up tube, which is all the rage. There is no need for a sharpener. However, if you accidently break off the pointy top, it doesn’t come back after twisting it up. It remains a flat tip.

Application: L’oreal specifically chose the tip to be pointy. This makes it simple to cover a small blemish with the tip or you can wipe the side of the top to cover larger areas. I really like this about the concealer. I also love how it doesn’t require a brush to blend in. I just use my fingers and I’m set.

Overall Conclusions: Up until now I have never repurchased or even planned on repurchasing the same concealer twice, but I will be repurchasing this one when I run out. My only complaint would be the lack of variety in shades. Most foundations and concealers have many more shades than just six, so maybe L’oreal could step up their game and provide more selection.

Thanks for making it all the way to the end!
