I’ve never been one to keep up with my brows. They just do their own thing. I’ve never had them waxed and I don’t tweeze them. But that being said, I’ve heard that grooming your brows can actually make a big difference. So I thought I’d hop on the brow-filling-in train.
I bought Maybelline Define-a-Brow ($7)(Drugstores) to get started. It comes in four different colors. I chose the second lightest color, even with my brown hair, and it matches perfectly! It’s fool proof. You can’t mess it up.
It’s marketed to be waterproof, which explains why it never smeared! But it was never difficult to get off by just using face wash. As of now I do not use a brow gel to set the pencil and it seems to stay on all day.
As always, I like to show you how it looks and applies.
Here’s me with a full face of makeup except for my brows:
Now starting half way across my brow I began defining. I use little soft strokes starting from the bottom of the brow curving to the top. The small strokes make it look more natural and blend in with the rest of my brow. I don’t fill in anything above or below my natural brow:
Half way done:
Now to soften the look, I used the comb, following the direction of my hair.
And for the finished look:
Because I’m still new at this whole brow thing, I sometimes forget to do them. But other than that my brows are always filled in. I actually waited until I finished the pencil to write this, because I wanted to be absolutely sure I liked it and would repurchase it. Also, I’ve been busy, so… yeah.
The ONLY negative aspect of this product is that you can’t tell when it’s getting low. All the sudden it’s like BAM no more eyebrow pencil for you. Now I know to always have an extra in stock. So make sure there’s enough for both brows before you start filling in. Seriously, having only one brow filled isn’t cute. Well it’s not this season, anyway. You never know about those trends sometimes…
Overall I really like the look of filled in brows. It frames my face and makes my makeup look more polished.
For my eye makeup I did the look from my “Safe Haven Inspired Makeup” post, which you can check out here.
Can you tell a difference when filling in your brows? Do you fill in your brows?
