I know that I’m not the only one that wears glasses, but still wants get dolled up with some makeup, right? It’s not my fault that I don’t have perfect vision. Thanks dad. While I typically wear contact lenses, sometimes I’m just too lazy and go for my glasses.
There are only a few makeup tutorials specifically geared towards a glasses girl, so here’s another option! Most of them suggest focusing on a bright or dramatic lip to balance your face from the eyewear. But that’s not what I like on me! I want to still be able to wear eye shadow, contour my face, and then wear a light lip color. If you don’t wear glasses, this look can still look great on you. You’ll find a picture of me without glasses wearing this look a bit later.
I’m beginning wearing only my normal foundation and concealer, because glasses or not, that doesn’t change.
I’m in no way recommending that you need the exact frames I have to pull off this makeup. Your frames should work with your face shape and compliment your appearance. My glasses hit the top of my cheek bones and almost reach my eyebrow, but feel free to adjust these tips to work for your glasses.
*It’s actually a lot harder than I thought to take pictures with glasses on and not get a glare. I tried my best.
First remember to take off your glasses before beginning to apply makeup. Haha and if that was your problem, you’re welcome. Glad I could help!
Cheeks: I think contouring your face with bronzer and blush is super important when wearing glasses. Because my glasses lay on my cheekbones (where I normally apply blush), when wearing glasses I’ll put blush up higher towards my hairline. Then I apply a bronzer right underneath that for some definition.
I’m using E.L.F. Studio Blush in the color Candid Coral ($3)(Target) and BareMinerals All-Over Face Color in Warmth ($19)(Ulta/Sephora)
Eyebrows: In my opinion if you are going to wear glasses you need to define those eyebrows! It provides structure to your face and works well to intensify your features even under those glasses.
I’m using Maybelline Define-a-Brow ($7)(Drugstores)
Eyes: The key to pulling off eye makeup with glasses is to brighten your eyes, not darken them. To do this I apply a natural light brown color all over my lids, but not onto or above my brow bone. This keeps my eye makeup from looking cray. You don’t want shadow coming out the top of your glasses. Gotta keep that eye shadow contained girl.
I’m using the color “Velvet Revolver” from the Too Faced Natural Eye Palette ($36)(Ulta/Sephora)
For eyeliner, I’ll only apply some to my upper lash line, not the bottom. This makes my lashes look longer without making my eyes appear smaller.
I’m using Almay Wake-Up Eyeliner and Highlighter ($9)(Drugstores)
Then for mascara I only apply a coat on my upper lashes. I suggest sticking with volumizing formulas as some of the lengthening mascaras can make your lashes too long and then they hit the lenses of the glasses when you blink.
I’m using Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara ($6)(Drugstores)
Lips: Earlier I mentioned that you don’t just have to focus on a bright lip. I mean you for sure can, but there are other options. For me, I like to stick with something light that doesn’t require a lot of maintenance. Normally when I’m wearing my glasses I’m already feeling lazy, so I’m not in the mood to check and retouch a deep red lip.
I’m using Tarte Maracuja Divine Shine Lip Gloss Blissful ($21)(Ulta/Sephora)
And even if you don’t have glasses, still try out these tips!
